Marvel Comics

SECRET AVENGERS #1

2 OUT OF 5

The issue kicks off with Valkyrie and the Black Widow on a mission in Dubai with the rest of the Shadow Ops team and leads to a mission to Mars. Wish I knew why we need a Shadow Ops team in the Heroic Age…seems more like Dark Reign to me. First issue is not as strong as I thought however could be better pulling the characters together.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #632

3 OUT OF 5

Curt Conners is no more as the Lizard sheds its skin and a talking lizard takes over. Waiting for the payoff if any next issue. Fantastic art by Chris Bachalo.

THOR #610

3 OUT OF 5

Taking place one day after  the Seige  on Asgard. Its Thor vs. Ragnarok the cloned Thor. However has some closure of the Thor series before Matt Fraction’s run begins.

WOLVERINE ORIGINS #48

2 OUT 5

Part 3 of Reckoning starts with Wolverine and Skaar team-up against Daken and Romulus. The issue is expectionally written with the heads of all the characters in mind. However it seems to have fallen short as it saves everything for the payout within the last part of the story.

X-FORCE #27

3 OUT OF 5

Part 9 of the Second Coming X-Men Trilogy starts off within army of Nimrods from the future attacking the X-Men who are isolated on their island as well as the city of San Francisco. One way to stop them is by sending Cable and X-Force into the future and stop them at the source. A one way trip to hell. Slow issue as we head towards the end.

AGE OF HEROES #1

3 OUT OF 5

Excerpt: The Fantastic Four is a fictional superhero team appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The group debuted in The Fantastic Four #1 (November 1961), which helped to usher in a new level of verisimilitude in the medium. The Fantastic Four was the first superhero team created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist and co-plotter Jack Kirby, who developed a collaborative approach to creating comics with this title that they would use from then on. As the first superhero team title produced by Marvel Comics, it formed a cornerstone of the company’s 1960s rise from a small division of a publishing company to a pop-culture conglomerate. The title would go on to showcase the talents of comics creators such as Roy Thomas, John Byrne, Steve Englehart, Walt Simonson, John Buscema, George Perez and Tom DeFalco, and is one of several Marvel titles still in publication since the Silver Age of Comic Books. The four core individua… More:

The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Steve Ditko. He first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 (Aug. 1962). Lee and Ditko conceived of the character as an orphan being raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben, and as a teenager, having to deal with the normal struggles of youth in addition to those of a costumed crime fighter. Spider-Man’s creators gave him super strength and agility, the ability to cling to most surfaces, shoot spider-webs using devices of his own invention which he called “web-shooters,” and react to danger quickly with his “spider-sense”, enabling him to combat his foes. When Spider-Man first appeared in the early 1960s, teenagers in superhero comic books were usually relegated to the role of sidekick to the protagonist. The Spider-Man series broke ground by featuring Peter Parker, a teenage high school student to whose “self-obsessions with rejection, inadequacy, and loneliness” young readers could relate. Unlike previous teen heroes such as James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes and Robin, Spider-Man did not benefit from being the protegé of any adult mentors like Capt… More:
